    IOC World Conference on Sport and Environment

    Sochi will host the 2013 IOC World conference on Sport and the Environment.

    The conference will present the IOC Sport and Environment Awards, which “recognize outstanding actions at grassroots level.”

    “The biennial event is one of the IOC’s key advocacy initiatives in the field of the environment and attracts representatives from the Olympic family, governments, the UN system, academic institutions, NGOs, sponsors and the media,” said the IOC in a statement.

    IPC General Assembly

    Athens, Greece has been announced as the host for the 2013 International Paralympic General Assembly.

    The IPC Congress will take place on November 22 with the assembly running November 23-24.

    Elections for IPC President, Vice President, and ten other members of the IPC Governing Board will take place on the 24.

    "We're very excited and looking forward to heading back to Athens for this year's General Assembly,” said Xavier Gonzalez, the IPC's Chief Executive Officer.

    "This year's event has extra significance due to the Governing Board elections and we will be communicating the nominations process to all members in due course."

    World Conference on Doping and Sport

    The fourth World Conference on Doping and Sport will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from Nov. 12 to 15.

    A new version of the World Anti-Doping Code will be ratified by WADA at the event.

    “For this reason, members of the world’s anti-doping community are encouraged to attend this highly-significant event.”

    WADA stakeholders will be allowed to publicly comment on the proceedings during the conference.


    SportAccord Convention

    SportAccord Convention announced the theme of “City Forum 2013.”

    The forum will focus on “city objectives in hosting sporting events and explore ways of measuring the performance of events.”

    Dr. Beatriz Garcia from the University of Liverpool will deliver the keynote address of the Forum entitled “What’s Your Position?”

    The forum will feature panels entitled “The Right Fit – Matching Events With City Priorities,” “Using Social Media To Maximise Benefit,” and “A Quick Guide to Multi-Sport Events.”

    Speakers include Peter Bayer, Managing Director, of OSM – Opensportsmanagement, Andrew Craig, The Craig Company, Vincent Gaillard, Director General of SportAccord, and many more.

    The SportAccord Convention runs from May 26th-31st in St. Petersburg, Russia.
