Olympic Flame Approaches Toronto

Torchbearer carrying the flame on a sailboat at the Olympic Harbor in Kingston, Ontario. (Vancouver 2010)(ATR) The Vancouver 2010 flame travels southwest towards Toronto on Day 48 of the Olympic torch relay.
Yesterday highlights include the torch traveling through 14 towns and being carried by one Olympian across the Canadian province of Ontario.
Today, the torch relay departs Peterborough and journeys to the town of Lakefield where sailing Olympian Michael de la Roche is scheduled to be a torchbearer.
The flame continues travel to Curve Lake, Bridgenorth, Omemee and Lindsay where a community celebration is planned to take place in the downtown area and will include a music video produced by VANOC followed by performances from local schools, musicians, gymnasts and the Lindsay Triple Threat Theatre Group.
The torch proceeds to the towns of Orono, Newcastle, Bowmanville and Courtice.
The Olympic Torch reaches its final destination point of the day in the town of Oshawa where a community celebration is scheduled at General Motors Centre and will include an Aboriginal welcome, multicultural dancing, music and local school band performances.
Tomorrow, the torch makes its way through 9 towns, will be carried by twelve Olympians and will ride in a Toronto streetcar.
