Madrid 2016 Looking Forward to Presenting to IOC

16 June 2009 - Leaders of the Madrid 2016 Olympic Bid have arrived in Lausanne looking forward to presenting their case for the "Games with the Human Touch" to the International Olympic Committee and to the world.
The Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz Gallardon; CEO of Madrid 2016, Mercedes Coghen; Spain's IOC member Juan Antonio Samaranch Jnr; Spain’s Secretary of State for Sport, Jaime Lissavetsky, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco; Managing Director of Madrid 2016, Antonio Fernandez Arimany; Madrid 2016 Sport Director, Raul Chapado and six-times Olympian and gold and silver medallist in water polo, Manuel Estiarte will present to the IOC on Wednesday.
They will talk about every aspect of the Madrid bid and why the Spanish capital is the best city and the safest choice to host an Olympics and Paralympics in 2016.
Bid chief Mercedes Coghen said: "We don't want to give too much away before our presentation to the IOC but I can say we are very proud of every part of our bid, from the technical aspects to the human and emotional side of a wonderful Games in our wonderful city.
"We are looking to forward to showing the IOC and the world what Madrid has to offer," she said.
Following the presentations, the Madrid 2016 team will hold a press conference in the Sala Forum at the Hotel Beau Rivage Hotel at 1800.
